About
my practice:
I came to being a practising Integrative Arts Psychotherapist
as a result of reaching an impasse in my work as a Personal
Development Facilitator with varied client groups. |
I
had begun to notice there was a richer vein to be mined when
clients spoke of their experiences through metaphor or when
paper and paints were introduced into the setting.
I have found that through the use of the arts clients are able
to express difficult and buried emotions and thus discover new
ways of uncovering parts of themselves that have otherwise
been inaccessible.
Once this process has begun, it becomes easier for feelings to
be accessed through creative expression thus bringing them
from the unconscious to the conscious realm. This enables a
dialogue to take place that could not previously be accessed
through regular therapeutic methods.
As an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist I provide different
creative modalities, which can be used either exclusively or
progressively through different mediums to suit each
individual client.
My integration of theoretical concepts includes: Transactional
Analysis, Gestalt, and Jungian Theory. I provide art
experiences and materials including: Sandtray and Objects,
Paints, Clay, Oil Pastels, Bodywork, Movement and Sound. I
also encourage the use of the Imagination and Metaphor. I
facilitate movement or a dialogue with the image to explore
and reveal a bridge between the conscious and unconscious
worlds held within.
